READ IT THEN SEE IT: BOOKS COMING OUT AS MOVIES IN 2016

Summer is on its way! When the temperature rises to over 100 degrees or when an afternoon thunderstorm blows in in, the best refuge is an air-conditioned theater to see a summer blockbuster. Several of this year's most anticipated movies are based on fabulous books. Now is a great time to check them out, so you can read them before you see them.

Alice Through the Looking Glass by Lewis Carroll
Release Date: May 27 - Rated PG
Alice (Mia Wasikowska) returns to the whimsical world of Wonderland and travels back in time to save the Mad Hatter (Johnny Depp).

Me Before You by Jojo Moyes
Release Date: June 3 - Rated PG-13
A girl from a small town (Emilia Clarke) forms an unlikely bond with a recently-paralyzed man (Sam Claflin) who she happens to be taking care of.

Genius (Max Perkins
: Editor of Genius) by A. Scott Berg

Release Date: June 10 - Rated PG-13
A chronicle of Max Perkins's time as the book editor at Scribner, where he oversaw works by Thomas Wolfe, Ernest Hemingway, F. Scott Fitzgerald, and others.

The BFG by Roald Dahl
Release Date: July 1 - Rated PG
A girl named Sophie encounters the Big Friendly Giant who despite his intimidating appearance, turns out to be a kindhearted soul who is considered an outcast by the other giants because he refuses to eat boys and girls.

The Legend of Tarzan (Tarzan of the Apes) by Edgar Rice Burroughs
Release Date: July 1 - Rated PG-13
Tarzan, having acclimated to life in London, is called back to his former home in the jungle to investigate the activities at a mining encampment.

Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates by Mike Strangle and Dave Strangle
Release Date: July 8 - Rated R
Two brothers (Zac Efron and Adam DeVine) place an online ad to find dates for a wedding and the ad goes viral.

Nerve by Jeanne Ryan

The Light Between Oceans by M.L. Stedman

A lighthouse keeper (Michael Fassbender) and his wife (Alicia Vikander) living off the coast of Western Australia raise a baby they rescue from an adrift rowboat.

Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children by Ransom Riggs

When Jacob (Asa Butterfield) discovers clues to a mystery that spans different worlds and times, he finds Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children. But the mystery and danger deepen as he gets to know the residents and learns about their special powers.

The Girl on the Train by Paula Hawkins

A woman on a train (Emily Blunt) sees something from her train window that could help in a murder case and becomes invested in the case.

A Monster Calls by Patrick Ness
Release Date: October 14 - Rated PG-13
A boy seeks the help of a tree monster (Liam Neeson) to cope with his single mom's (Felicity Jones) terminal illness.
 
Inferno by Dan Brown

After waking up in a hospital room in Florence, Italy, with no memory of what has occurred for the last few days, Robert Langdon (Tom Hanks) suddenly finds himself the target of a manhunt.
