Craft Corner: Winter Sun Catcher

❄️ Cool Craft for Winter

By Maggie Mackay December 28, 2011

Add a little color to your winter day with this simple craft. You'll need a decent amount of freezer space, so plan this craft for a day or two before you head to the grocery store.

What You Need:

  • Ice cube trays
  • Food coloring
  • A round cake pan
  • Ribbon

What You Do:

Make colored ice cubes by adding 1-2 drops of food coloring to the water in each section of an ice cube tray. Freeze overnight.

The next day, add water to a round cake pan till it is about 2/3 full. Set a plastic cup full of water on one side of the pan, about an inch from the edge. This will create a hole so you can hang your sun catcher. Place the pan in the freezer for about an hour.

Add the colored ice cubes to the pan and freeze completely. Remove the plastic cup, flip the frozen sun catcher out of the pan, and hang from a tree branch with a ribbon.
