Fun & Games: Play With Your Food with a Winter Snack-tivity

Adorable snack crafts are entertaining and simple enough for all ages, although your little ones may need a bit of help. Edible crafts also make sweet decorations for the kids' table, cute party favors, or a yummy snack to eat on the spot!

These edible No-Bake Holiday Cookie Ornaments, Fruity Snowmen, and Holiday Fruit Roll-Ups® Cookies are made with Betty Crocker fruit-flavored snacks. We’ve used Fruit Roll-Ups® Fruit Gushers® and Fruit by the Foot®.

Holiday Fruit Roll-Ups® Cookies
Use your favorite holiday cookie cutters to make these colorful, easy festive cookies. Serve them with mugs of hot cocoa or eggnog topped with whipped cream.

Prep Time: 35 Minutes
Start to Finish: 35 Minutes

Makes 20 cookies

  • 1 pouch (17.5 oz) Betty Crocker® sugar cookie mix
  • 1/3 cup butter, softened
  • 1 tablespoon Gold Medal all-purpose flour
  • 1 egg
  • 2 boxes Betty Crocker® Fruit Roll-Ups® Blastin' Berry Hot Colors® chewy fruit-flavored snacks
  • 1 box Betty Crocker® Fruit Roll-Ups® Flavor Mixers chewy fruit-flavored snacks  
  • 1 box Betty Crocker® Fruit Gushers® red fruit-flavored snacks (from tropical flavors variety pack)
  • 1 container Betty Crocker® Whipped fluffy white frosting
  • Coarse sugar

Heat oven to 375°F. In a medium bowl, mix cookie mix, butter, flour, and egg until soft dough forms. On a lightly floured surface, roll dough 1/4-inch thick. Cut dough with holiday cookie cutters. Place on ungreased cookie sheet. Bake 7-9 minutes or until edges are light golden brown. Cool.

Unroll and remove the paper from Betty Crocker Fruit Roll-Ups. Cut using the same holiday cookie cutters and place on top of same-shaped cookies, or cut different shapes and place on top of round cookies. Decorate cookies with remaining ingredients as desired, using suggestions below and referring to photos.

  • For holly leaf and berries, use Betty Crocker Fruit Gushers and green Betty Crocker Fruit Roll-Ups.
  • For snowflakes, use blue Betty Crocker Fruit Roll-Ups and coarse sugar.
  • For candy cane, use red Betty Crocker Fruit Roll-Ups.
  • For a gift, use Betty Crocker Fruit Roll-Ups Flavor Mixers.
  • For ornament, use Betty Crocker Fruit Roll-Ups Blastin' Berry.
  • For bell, use Betty Crocker Whipped fluffy white frosting, melted in a small microwavable bowl in the microwave, and Betty Crocker Fruit Roll-Ups Blastin' Berry.

Fruity Snowmen
Cute holiday snowmen are made with marshmallows and decorated with fruit snacks. Use all different colors of Fruit by The Foot® for colorful snowman scarves.

Prep Time: 20 Minutes
Start to Finish: 20 Minutes

Makes 16 snowmen

  • 32 large marshmallows
  • 16 (6-inch) lollipop sticks
  • 1 container Betty Crocker® Whipped fluffy white frosting
  • 32 candy eyes
  • 16 Betty Crocker® Fruit Gushers® orange fruit flavored snacks (from tropical flavors variety pack)
  • 32 pretzel sticks
  • 16 milk chocolate candy drops or pieces
  • 1 box Betty Crocker® Fruit Roll-Ups® chewy fruit-flavored snacks, any variety
  • 1 box Betty Crocker® Fruit by the Foot® chewy fruit-flavored snacks, any variety

Place two marshmallows on each stick, using frosting to hold them together.

Decorate each snowman, using frosting to attach candy eyes; orange Betty Crocker Fruit Gusher for nose; pretzels for arms.

Unroll and remove the paper from Betty Crocker Fruit Roll-Ups to cover candies and stick on top of each for hat; unroll and remove the paper from Betty Crocker Fruit by the Foot. Cut with kitchen scissor lengthwise. Wrap around the snowman to look like a scarf.


No-Bake Holiday Cookie Ornaments
Small vanilla wafer cookies wrapped in fruit snacks make brightly colored holiday ornaments. Try using smaller cookies to make miniature ornaments.

 

  • 20 vanilla wafer cookies
  • 1 box Betty Crocker® Fruit Roll-Ups® Blastin' Berry Hot Colors® chewy fruit-flavored snacks
  • 20 (3-inch) pieces string licorice
  • Coarse sugar, if desired

Line cookie sheet with waxed paper or cooking parchment paper.

Unroll and remove the paper from Betty Crocker Fruit Roll-Ups. Cut each in fourths. Make a loop for ornament using string licorice and attach to the backside of the cookie, securing under fruit snack as you wrap fruit snack around the cookie. Decorate with sugar, or cut pieces from the remaining fruit snack to decorate.

Place on a cookie sheet to set.
