Hot Pumpkin Spice Drink

  • 1 cup water
  • ¾ cup granulated sugar (or ½ cup white sugar + ¼ cup brown sugar)
  • 2 Tablespoons pumpkin puree
(use the rest to make Pumpkin Pancakes, Pumpkin Chili, or Pumpkin Cheesecake)
  • 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • ½ teaspoon ground allspice
  • ⅛ teaspoon ground cloves

Place all ingredients in a saucepan over medium heat. Stir constantly until sugar is dissolved and the mixture has turned into a syrup.

Remove from heat and cool. Stir 1-2 Tablespoons into a mug of hot milk (or non-dairy alternative), hot chocolate, or hot coffee (for the grown-ups). Top with whipped cream and a light dusting of cinnamon or pumpkin pie spice. Sit back and enjoy a yummy moment with your children.

NOTE: Store syrup in an airtight container in the refrigerator for 2-3 weeks.
