One thing I've learned from years of family road trips is that snacks can make or break the drive! Whether we're heading to the mountains for the weekend, exploring a new Colorado town, or traveling out of state, having a stash of everyone's favorite snacks keeps the "Are we there yet?" and "I'm hungry!" questions to a minimum.
I like to pack a mix of healthy options along with a few fun treats because, let's be honest, road trips are meant to feel a little special!

Here are some of our family's go-to road trip snacks:
Fresh Fruit
Grapes, apple slices, and clementines are always the first things to disappear. I wash everything ahead of time and pack it in reusable containers so it's easy to grab.
Trail Mix
Everyone in our family has a favorite mix, so I usually make a few different versions with nuts, pretzels, dried fruit, and just enough chocolate to keep everyone smiling.
Cheese & Crackers
String cheese, cheese cubes, and whole-grain crackers are filling, easy to eat in the car, and hold everyone over until our next stop
Veggies & Dip
Baby carrots, snap peas, cucumbers, and bell peppers travel surprisingly well. A little hummus or ranch makes them even more appealing.
Granola Bars & Protein Snacks
Granola bars, protien bars, beef jerky, and yogurt drinks are always packed for those moments when we need something a little more filling.
Drinks
Water is always our preferred drink but we ususally pack a few capri suns and some soft drinks for when water is just too plain.
A Fun Treat
Every road trip deserves a little indulgence! Whether it's cookies, fruit snacks, or everyone's favorite candy, I always tuck away a surprise treat for later in the drive.
Pro Tips: Packing individual portions helps cut down on the mess (and sibling negotiations!). Keep paper towels and baby wipes handy for messes, small trash bags for wrappers and other trash, and use a cooler to keep fresh snacks cold.
