2021 Halloween Candy Buy-Back Program

🎃 Great Tip for Halloween

By Kyrie Collins, Highlands Ranch-Parker-Castle Rock-Lone Tree Publisher October 25, 2021

Between Halloween parties with friends, Halloween parties at school, special events around town, trick-or-treating at local businesses, and trick-or-treating in our neighborhood, my boys collect A LOT of Halloween candy. Pounds and pounds of it!

I certainly don't want them eating all that candy but the trick-or-treating is part of the fun so I don't want to limit their participation in these events either.

Every year, we participate in the Halloween Candy Buy Back through our pediatric dentist. Each year, dentists, orthodontists, and other organizations around the country participate in Halloween candy buy-back events, buying Halloween treats with cash, coupons, toothbrushes, and other creative exchanges.

Then all the candy gets delivered to our troops deployed overseas so they can enjoy a sweet treat too! That's what I call a WIN!

I let my kids choose 25 pieces of candy that they can keep (of course, after they go to bed I sort through the rest for a few pieces of my own favorites). The rest goes to our dentist, who pays my boys $1 per pound of candy — just the right amount for a trip to a dollar store.

Check with your pediatric or family dentist to see if they are buying back Halloween candy this year. If not, use the zip code lookup feature at www.halloweencandybuyback.com to find a participating dentist near you (be sure to call first to verify collection hours and participation).
