Boo Someone: A Halloween Tradition

🎃 Fun Idea for Halloween

Several years ago, my boys and I arrived home one October day after running errands and discovered a surprise on our front porch: a goodie bag filled with treats and a sign that said: "You've Been Boo-ed!"

We've been what?

As it turned out, this fun tradition was a popular activity in our neighborhood through the whole month of October — and still is!

My boys couldn't wait to return the favor and "Boo" a couple of their friends. We went to the dollar store to pick out a few items like Halloween pencils, erasers, stickers, tattoos, and candy, then put together our Boo Bags. The best part was watching my kids get as excited about giving as they were about getting!

Start this tradition in your own neighborhood! Just follow these simple instructions and you'll be boo-ing in no time!

 STEP ONE:
Put together two Halloween baskets, buckets, or bags filled with fun treats. We used simple brown lunch bags that we decorated with stickers. You can include sweet treats and/or Halloween-themed decorations and favors.

Just think about the ages of the families you'll be boo'ing and have fun putting together something that will be enjoyed by everyone.

 STEP TWO:
On the outside of the bag, attach the following printable. Click the image to download and print or visit bit.ly/MKDCBooSheet.

 STEP THREE:
Pick two friends or neighbors and secretly drop your "boo" on their front step! Don't let them see you — or maybe even dress up in your Halloween costumes!

 STEP FOUR:
Watch the "Boos" spread!
