Recipe Box: Grilled Alaskan Salmon

Many health experts recommend eating fish for dinner 1-2 times per week

May 15, 2019

Salmon is one of the most nutritious fish available today. It is rich in various nutrients that are hard to find in most foods.

Most experts agree that wild-caught salmon is healthier than farm-raised because it is higher in omega-3 fatty acids (healthy) and lower in omega-6 fatty acids (not as healthy). Also, farmed salmon is generally dyed to give it that salmon-pink color.

However, farm-raised salmon can be a quarter of the price of wild so it may be "healthier" for the budget.

Grilled Alaskan Salmon

  • ½ cup brown sugar
  • ¼ cup butter
  • 2 Tablespoons lemon juice
  • ½ cup white wine
  • ½ cup soy sauce
  • 4 salmon fillets

Heat all ingredients except salmon in a saucepan until they marry, then cool. Marinate salmon in half the marinade, covered in the refrigerator, for up to four hours.

Grill salmon for 10 minutes per inch of thickness on a medium-high grill. Heat remaining marinade till reduced by half and use as a glaze and serving sauce.
