Macaroni Craft: Family Fun Jar

January 11, 2012

Does your family ever wake on a Saturday morning wondering, "What should we do today?" If so, perhaps it's time to create a FAMLY FUN JAR to inspire you! The concept is simple ... write down as many family-friendly activities as you can and add them to a jar. Here are some to get you started:

  • Bowling
  • Redbox Movie day
  • Miniature golf
  • Swimming pool (during the winter, we'll head to the Castle Rock or Lone Tree Recreation Centers)
  • A hike at Castlewood Canyon
  • Lunch at a fast food play place (we prefer Chick Fil-A)
  • Picnic at the park (or in our living room if there's too much snow)
  • Roller skating at Skate City (or try Skyline Park if you prefer ice skating)
  • Board games in the family room (each person gets to choose their favorite)
  • Computer games at the library (be sure to pick up some books on your way out)
  • A trip to Cheyenne Mountain Zoo or Denver Museum of Nature and Science (we have memberships to both places)
  • Check the Macaroni Kid calendar to see what's going on today!

This jar is simply meant to jump start a new kind of fun — something exciting and spontaneous for a change! Now go make your own FAMILY FUN JAR, and then leave a comment below telling us some of the activities you've put int your jar.

Happy New Year from our family to yours!
