🌷 Great Gift Idea for Mother's Day, Grandparent's Day, or Any Special Occasion

By Katherine Lydon April 30, 2014

What better way to show Mom how much you love her than with this wonderful homemade present for Mom or Grandma on Mother's Day.

What You Need:

  • Clay flower pot
  • Acrylic paint
  • Paintbrushes
  • Pencil
  • Clear acrylic sealer in gloss or matte
  • Potting soil
  • Flower or herb seeds, or young plants

What You Do:

  1. Let your child paint the flowerpot.
  2. Once the paint is dry, have your child hold the flower pot with both hands.
  3. Trace his or her hands onto the flower pot with the pencil.
  4. Help your child paint the hand prints (or paint them yourself if your child is too young). Alternatively, you can coat the bottom of your child's hand in paint and then help press a handprint directly onto the flowerpot.
  5. Allow to dry.
  6. Coat the pot with clear acrylic sealer so the pot can get wet without the paint fading or washing off.
  7. Plant flowers or herbs for a finishing touch.
