This is an easy recipe that was a hit with the whole family! This bread is great served warm with butter, toasted or even made into french toast!
Irish Soda Bread with a Twist
- 3¾ cups flour
- ¼ cup sugar
- 1 Tablespoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ½ cup butter, melted
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 1 egg
- 1 cup Sun-Maid Fruit Bits
- 1 teaspoon caraway seeds
- 1 Tablespoon butter, melted
Preheat oven to 375โ.
In a large bowl, mix together flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
Pour in melted butter, buttermilk, and egg; stir together.
Fold in Fruit Bits and caraway seeds. Place dough onto a floured surface and knead lightly.
Form dough into a ball and place on either a greased or a parchment-lined cookie sheet. With a sharp knife, cut an X into the top of the loaf. Brush loaf with melted butter and sprinkle with sugar.
Bake for 40–50 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the loaf comes out clean.
Let bread cool and ENJOY!
