Craft Corner: Upcycled Bookmarks

🌎 Cool Craft for Earth Day (or Any Day!)

By Aimee Falso February 27, 2013

My kiddos are both reading chapter books, and they usually read two to three books at a time so they use a lot of bookmarks. This simple craft lets us upcycle our empty cereal or snack boxes, plus makes use of the hundreds of stickers we've got lying around!

What You Need:

  • Cardboard cereal, cookie or cracker boxes
  • Scissors
  • Hold punch
  • Yarn or ribbon
  • Stickers and stamps to decorate with

What You Do:

  1. For each bookmark, cut a piece of cardboard approximately 6 inches long by 2 inches wide.
  2. Cut one piece of yarn or ribbon for each bookmark approximately 10 inches.
  3. Punch a hole in the top center of each bookmark.
  4. Decorate plain cardboard side with stickers and stamps.
  5. Feed the piece of yarn through hole and tie a knot to hold in place.
