Craft Corner: Butterfly Art Project

By Jodi Lorence March 18, 2015

These cute little butterflies are fun and easy to make. What a great way for you and your Mini Macaronis to celebrate spring!

What You Need:

  • Card stock
  • Watercolor paint and brushes or dot paints
  • Glue
  • Scissors
  • Brightly colored ribbon or pipe cleaner
  • Fishing line or dental floss (for hanging)

What You Do:

  1. Cut a piece of cardstock 5 1/2 inches by 4 inches for the body. Fold it into a cylinder and glue the ends together. (You can also use an empty toilet paper roll if you have one available.)
  2. Cut out wings as in picture. I kept them one piece so I could glue the body to the middle.
  3. Have the kids paint each piece, the body and the wings.
  4. Glue the cylinder on the middle of the wings.
  5. Cut two pieces of ribbon or pipe cleaner and knot or twist one end of each.
  6. Glue the antennae on your butterfly with the knotted end up.
  7. Attach fishing line or dental floss and hang so your butterflies will fly!

Be creative with whatever supplies you have on hand. You could use glitter glue, sequins, buttons, markers, and anything else you find in your craft box!
