Castle Rock Starlighting is Saturday, November 21, 2020

November 11, 2020

The Castle Rock "Lighting of the Star" has been a holiday tradition with residents since 1936. Due to the global COVID-19 pandemic, this year's event will look a little different.

The tradition of the lighting the star and a fireworks display on top of the Rock will continue as planned. Instead of the annual festival in Downtown Castle Rock, families can attend at one of three viewing locations or enjoy the live streamed event from home, complete with a Starlighting Take-Home Kit (available for purchase, while supplies last).

Families must preregister to attend one of the onsite viewing event locations: Castle Rock Adventist Hospital, Douglas County Fairgrounds, and the Amphitheater at Philip S. Miller Park.

Each location will be open from 2:00–6:00 PM and will feature live/strolling entertainment, food trucks, non-profit vendor booths, and hot chocolate/beverages, as well as viewing of the ceremony emceed by Gary Shapiro & Corey Rose (9News). The ceremony will begin at 5:00 PM, with the lighting of The Star at approximately 5:30 PM, followed immediately by fireworks.

The ceremony will also be live streamed on the Town of Castle Rock’s Facebook page (@CRgov). Add the festive spirit to your virtual viewing party with your family with a Starlighting Take Home Kit, complete with the 2020 Starlighting ornament, four Starlighting candles, two mugs, and hot chocolate for $25! Kits will be available for pickup at the Castle Rock Chamber on November 18.

As always, please remember to shop local and support our community.  Now more than and ever our small businesses need our support, not only this holiday season, but all year long!
