Santa Mail ~ How and Where to Get in Touch with the Jolly Ol' Elf

By Kyrie Collins, Macaroni KID Highlands Ranch-Parker-Castle Rock-Lone Tree Publisher December 1, 2021

Another year has rolled around. The time to write letters to Santa Claus has arrived. When I was growing up, I remember having to write a letter to Santa several weeks before Christmas. After all, Santa needs time to make wishes come true.

However, with the advance of technology, children of the present day can have their pick of snail mail or email, traditional response time or instant gratification.

In my eyes, there is a bigger picture and an important message to this simple tradition. A letter to Santa is a representation of words from a child, filled with hope and faith, sealed with love. I will continue keeping the magic alive for my children as long as they believe.

I will teach them the meaning of Christmas through acts of kindness and remind them of the everyday Santa Clauses who walk the streets of life, giving generously.

Snail Mail!
Sending a physical letter to Santa can be one of the most exciting things kids will do this Christmas season.

Pro tip: Make a copy of your child's letter before you send it. It will be a cherished keepsake in years to come.

USPS Letters from Santa Program. The Letters from Santa program adds to the excitement of Christmas and comes complete with a North Pole Postmark! Follow the instructions exactly as outlined and don't wait much longer; it's recommended you send your letters by December 10.

  1. Have the child write a letter to Santa and place it in an envelope addressed to "Santa Claus, North Pole"
  2. Write a personalized response to the child's letter and sign it "From Santa." Need help with a reply? Visit LetterfromSanta.org.
  3. Insert both letters into an envelope, and address it to the child. Add the return address "SANTA, NORTH POLE" to the envelope, along with a First-Class Mail stamp.
  4. Place the complete envelope into a larger envelope, with appropriate postage, and address it to:

Santa Claus Museum Village. Every letter to Santa received by December 18, 2021, will receive a letter back from Santa Claus himself! They even have a cute Santa Letter PDF that you can download and print for your child to write their letter on. The earlier you send in your letter, the better. To help pay for postage, donations are greatly appreciated.

Macy's "Write a Letter" Program. Deliver your child's letter to Santa at a Macy's closest to you (or submit one online). Although your child won't receive a response, Macy's will donate $1 to the Make-A-Wish foundation up to $1,000,000. Since 2003, Macy's has raised millions of dollars for Make-a-Wish through their Santa letters program! (You can order a Santa letter to your child on Santa letterhead with a genuine North Pole postmark from the Santa Claus House.)
