There may be no such thing as a free lunch, but there is a free museum ticket waiting for you! The 18th annual Museum Day is happening on Saturday, September 17, 2022.
Hosted by Smithsonian Magazine, the annual event encourages museums, zoos, and cultural centers from all 50 states to emulate the spirit of the Smithsonian Institution’s Washington, D.C.-based facilities, which offer free admission every day.
18 Colorado Museums are participating, including:
- American Mountaineering Museum (Golden)
- Center for Colorado Women's History (Denver)
- Dinosaur Ridge (Morrison)
- History Colorado (Denver)
- John May Museum Center (Colorado Springs)
- Kirkland Museum of Fine & Decorative Art (Denver)
- Pro Rodeo Hall of Fame and Museum of the American Cowboy (Colorado Springs)
- Western Museum of Mining & Industry (Colorado Springs)

Museum-goers can head to the Museum Day website to download one free ticket, good for two people, to the participating museum of their choice. Each ticket grants the ticket holder and one guest free access to any participating museum on September 17th. One ticket is permitted per email address.
Know Before You Go: One ticket is good for admission for two people. Parking and special events or exhibits are not included. Please check the hours and policies of each museum, as they vary by location.
