1. Books. School may have a break, but a new book over the holidays will keep your child entertained and educated. (Need a recommendation? Talk to the librarians in the Children's and Teen areas of our Douglas County Libraries or visit our Books, Books, Books Pinterest board.)

2. Kitchen Tools. Kids love to cook. Quality kitchen tools last a long time and are durable for kids. They also make great stocking stuffers!

3. Subscription Boxes. This one is fun at any age. There are so many choices, from makeup to science kits to arts & crafts.

4. Tickets. To a movie you can all go see during the Winter Break, local theater productions, concerts, sports games ... and you'll be creating memories too.

5. Magazine Subscriptions. No matter what your child's age or interest, there is definitely a magazine right for them!

6. Classes/Lessons. Enhance a child's life in sports, performing arts, STEM, music, and more. Our Kids Classes & Youth Sports Guide has dozens of great local businesses.

7. Family Vacation. Time together is the greatest gift you can give. Turn your dream vacation into a reality.

8. Charitable Donation. Most organizations will supply a certificate showing the donation in someone's name. Many zoos and other wildlife organizations allow virtual animal adoptions, and will send your child a stuffed animal and adoption certificate. Other organizations may let you choose a tote bag or t-shirt as a recognition of the gift.

9. Calendar. My mother always gave my brother and me a calendar every year. It is a tradition that I still look forward to each year. You can even mark certain fun dates, such as Spring Break, a ski day, or first day of summer vacation.

10. Memberships. A family membership to the local zoo or your favorite museum will keep your family entertained, enriched, and exhausted all year long!
