25 Things to Do During Screen-Free Week

By Laura Miller April 26, 2017

Screen-Free Week is all about taking a break from digital entertainment and spending more time with family and friends, getting outdoors, and being more active and creative.

It's easy to forget that there are other things to do besides spending time with our devices, or it has just become a habit to use them. This international celebration helps to remind us to step away from the screens to do other things.

Here are just a few ideas to get you started:

1. Take a walk/hike.

2. Read a book.

3. Learn to juggle.

4. Learn to knit/crochet.

5. Learn to paint.

6. Learn to garden.

7. Learn to cook.

8. Learn to do the laundry.

9. Practice your handwriting.

10. Try a new sport.

11. See how many Little Free Libraries you can find in your town.

12. Have a picnic.

13. Take outgrown clothes out of your dresser.

14. Plan and then take a long bike ride (pack a lunch too!).

15. Make your own musical instruments.

16. Teach someone else how to do something cool you can do.

17. Race your friends.

18. Ask an adult about yard games they played when they were kids.

19. Make slime.

20. Help someone in need.

21. Weed a garden/flower bed.

22. Volunteer at a nursing home.

23. Organize your room.

24. Ask your parent/guardian how you can help them.
