DIY Indoor-Outdoor Tent

☀️ Cool Activity for Summer Fun

By Megan Barnes June 14, 2017
This week, we are making an easy DIY indoor/outdoor tent. With just $15 worth of materials and 10-20 minutes, your kids can be ready for a new adventure in this easy to move and store tent. This tent is super easy to make and can be folded up flat for easy storage!

What You Need:
  • Three (3) 48" dowel rods
  • Two (2) 1"x2"x8' boards cut in half
  • One (1) full- or queen-size sheet
  • A drill and a hole bit at 3/4" diameter
What You Do:
  1. On each board, measure 4" from the top and 3/4" over to center of board and drill a hole. Repeat on remaining boards.
  2. On opposite ends, drill holes 3" down and at the 3/4" mark.
  3. Take two of the boards and drive one dowel rod through the 4" holes. Attach the other two boards on the 4" ends to opposite end of dowel rod. This makes the ridge pole for your tent!
  4. Take and insert another dowel rod on the bottom of the frame, matching inside piece to inside piece and outside to outside. Tap each end with a hammer if needed to leave dowel out about 2".
  5. Drape with a sheet or fabric. The sheet can be pinned or sewn if needed around lower dowel rods.
