By Sarah Hauge, Publisher, Macaroni Kid, Englewood, Greenwood Village, Centennial, CO January 6, 2021

There's something about plastic beads that causes them to end up ALL OVER my house when we use them for craft projects. I have had enough!

Fortunately, with the latest anti-plastic movements, there couldn't be a more perfect time to make the swap those pesky plastic beads for more eco-friendly choices. That's how we were inspired to create a paper straw necklace.

This simple, inexpensive, mom-approved craft is suitable for even the youngest of artisans.

What You Need:

  • Paper Straws ~ We found our rainbow unicorn themed straws at Target
  • String or ribbon
  • Needle (optional)
  • Embellishments (optional) ~ stickers, paper cutouts, charms ~ free printables below!

What You Do:

  1. Cut the paper straws into smaller segments. Our straws are cut to 3/4-inch long pieces.
  2. String the paper straws onto your string/ribbon.
  3. Print these embellishments to add to your necklace!
