Registration is Open for Performing Arts Academy Summer Camps

January 15, 2020

Theatre summer camps at Performing Arts Academy (PAA) are a great way for kids to get the full theater production experience in two action-packed weeks!

Throughout the months of June and July, students have the opportunity to experience musical theater in one of our Theatre Summer Camps. These camps give students an age-appropriate full production experience in only two action-packed weeks.

Our camps start the day with a morning conversation around a positive, enriching value or theme for the day, such as compassion, leadership, or communication. There is also wrap up time at the end of the day, which concludes the day with reflection on the day’s value or theme.

Pre-K - 2nd Grade

For our youngest students, PAA provides week-long half-day programs (9:00 AM–12:00 PM) that are filled with fun activities including theatre, crafts, snack, and outdoor time (weather permitting). The emphasis is on learning, engagement, and social development through fun and playful exploration of the camp’s theme.

The week ends with an informal "Shareformance" in a supportive, age-appropriate space where friends and family can celebrate the campers’ achievements.

Elementary

Students in 3rd–6th grade take on the challenge of a fully-staged 30-minute musical! These programs are two weeks long, and run from 9:00 AM–4:00 PM, including a lunch time (campers bring a lunch).

These are action-packed and challenging weeks, full of learning, fun, and friends! The first week offers classes in acting, music, and dance along with lots of rehearsal time. The second week moves into tech, where the elements of lights, sound, set, costumes, props, and projections are added.

These programs end with two fully-staged performances!

Middle School & High School

Our middle and high school aged campers (6th–12th grade) embark on a more challenging journey of putting on a fully-staged 60-minute musical. These are two-week full-day programs (9:00 AM–4:00 PM). The first week includes classes in acting, singing, and dance as well as rehearsal time.

In the second week, the campers move into a tech week, where they continue to rehearse while adding in the elements of lights, sound, costumes, set, and projections.

These camps culminate in two fully-staged performances where friends, family, and community members can support and celebrate the camper’s achievement!

Conservatory

The Conservatory Theatre program at PAA is our top-level program, appropriate for serious, experienced high school students who want to take their acting, singing, and dancing to the next level.

The Conservatory Theatre program is different from our standard high school theatre programs. Students are required to participate in a rigorous audition process and bring a professional level of effort and dedication to each rehearsal.

The directors for PAA conservatory theatre programs are all current industry professionals with a vast amount of experience in their field. Participation in the PAA Conservatory program will prepare students for college theatre programs and beyond.
