Stone Canyon Outdoor EdVentures is Getting into the Halloween Spirit!

By Alicia Gerber, Summer Camp, Conference, and Retreat Manager at Stone Canyon Outdoor EdVentures October 20, 2020

Halloween is a time for outdoor fun! All of my best Halloween memories involve an elaborate costume hidden under my puffy winter jacket.

Halloween was always spent running through a corn maze, picking out the best pumpkin in the patch, and ending the day with a pillowcase full of candy.

It is easy to say that Halloween was — and still is — my favorite holiday. Now, as an adult, I typically get to celebrate Halloween with students participating in their overnight outdoor ed trip here at Stone Canyon Outdoor EdVentures. The students bring their costumes and Stone Canyon staff builds a Halloween-themed carnival and dance! It is always a highlight of our fall season.

Since Halloween lands on a Saturday this year, we will not be hosting student groups on site, which means we get to host our first-ever Halloween Family Camp! Our family camps are designed to bring fun and adventure to the entire family. We will offer all of our traditional adventure activities for this very special Halloween Family Camp but with a Halloween twist.

What activities do you offer for Family Camp?

Groups who sign up for family camp get an opportunity to climb to new heights on our ropes course, fly down our 750-foot zip line, take aim at the archery range, and go on a Halloween-themed hike on our property. Each activity will run for one hour and 15 minutes. Lunch and a snack is included.

Families arrive at Stone Canyon at 9:00 AM and activities wrap up by 3:30 PM.

Who can sign up for Family Camp?

Family camp is open to participants ages 5 and up but campers must be at least 8 years old to participate in High Ropes and Zip Line. You can gather family, friends, neighbors, or whoever to make up your group. Groups must have a minimum of 7 and can have up to 15 participants.

For the adventure activities, participants must fit in a harness if they would like to participate. The Zip Line has a weight limit of 250 pounds. Each group must include one supervisory adult (18+). We will have alternative and age-appropriate activities available for our younger campers.

How much does Family Camp Cost?

The cost is $65 per person and includes lunch, snacks, and all games and activities.

Groups must have at least 7 participants in their camp group. Groups with fewer than 7 people will be charged $40 per open spot.

Having trouble finding enough people? Contact Stone Canyon and we will try to put you in touch with another family!

 How do I sign up?
