January 2022: Note From Your Publisher – New Year, New Publishing Day

January 3, 2022

New year, new publishing day!

After more than ten years of publishing a weekly newsletter on Wednesday morning, I'm making the shift to Mondays instead. In addition to seasonal articles, guides, and information about local businesses, each newsletter will feature family-friendly events happening throughout the week along with an article focusing on weekend events.

Why the change? Simple: my life has changed!

When I started publishing Macaroni KID, my youngest was still in preschool. Now I only have teens in my house and my oldest will legally be an adult in two days. (Legally being an adult and being capable of "adulting" are not the same thing, as he and I have discussed, but that's a topic for another day.)

Everyone in the house has jobs, friends, and outside interests. To make the most of our time together, I've restructured my work week in a way that publishing on Mondays now makes the most sense.

For those of you who are planners, this will (hopefully) make it easier for you to schedule fun events and activities throughout the week and for the weekend before events sell out.

If you wait until Thursday to think about the weekend fun, I offer two simple suggestions:

  • First, set a reminder on your phone to check our "Top Things to Do in Douglas County This Weekend with Kids."
  • Second, make sure you follow us on Facebook. This is where I post last-minute changes and cancellations. It is also where I announce events that are likely to sell out. Be sure to click the three dots to update your Follow Settings and make the Macaroni KID Douglas County Facebook page one of your Favorites so you never miss a post!

The last two years have been unlike anything I had ever imagined. Here's to closing the door on 2021 and looking forward — hopefully and optimistically — to 2022!
