Bring the JOY back with Swimming Lessons at SafeSplash Swim School

March 10, 2021

With the world still in so much limbo, we at SafeSplash Swim School are doing our best to make families feel safe and confident to return to swimming. Learning to swim helps children develop self-confidence and provides a sense of achievement. Swimming is a fun, safe social activity.

The smiles we bring to children’s and parents' faces are not the only reason we have resumed our swim lessons amid the pandemic. Swimming lessons are as important as ever!

In fact, some states and cities have deemed swim schools to be an essential business. SafeSplash Swim School and our partners at the National Drowning Prevention Alliance believe this designation is a big stride forward.

Swim lessons bear even more importance as the American Academy of Pediatrics has expressed concerns regarding the increased risk of childhood drownings during the pandemic.

“Drowning is the single leading cause of death for children ages 1 to 4, and it’s one of the top causes of death for teens. As children are at home more due to social isolation recommendations, they may have more access to pools, bathtubs, and other sources of water – all of which pose a drowning risk,” said pediatrician Ben Hoffman, MD, FAAP, chair of the AAP Council on Injury, Violence & Poison Prevention.

“Families may also be visiting lakes, rivers, or other open bodies of water as a way to get outdoors while still maintaining physical distance to reduce the spread of coronavirus. We have to make sure that we plan layers of protection to keep children and teens safe around water, wherever they are,” Dr. Hoffman said.

While our "normal" ways of life have been turned completely upside down, we at SafeSplash are committed to moving forward and are bringing joy back one lesson at a time! We are holding to our mission of providing a fun, safe learning environment.

Beyond being safe and confident in the water, learning to swim opens opportunities to live life to the fullest. From the basics of blowing bubbles to a backyard pool party to the adventures of catching a big wave, being able to swim brings a pure sense of joy and the opportunity for a lifetime of adventures. Swimming is a skill to be enjoyed for a lifetime!
