Deputy Zack S. Parrish III Memorial Park (DZPIII) is a park I have had on my list of parks to see for a while now. This week, my family and I went to experience it for ourselves. I've seen pictures, but upon arrival, I realized they didn't do it justice.

The 5.5-acre park opened in August 2019 and is dedicated to Deputy Parrish and all public servicemen and women who work in the community to keep everyone safe.

This park is huge! The main feature is a giant play structure, built for ages 5-12, with a three-story slide. There are crawl-through areas that remind me of Monkey Bizness or Lava Island. This area was teeming with people of all ages. Adults, teenagers, and everyone else were having fun.

A smaller area off to the left has a play structure built for littles with a rock wall, multiple slides, and a percussion area with drums, bells, and a xylophone.

In addition to the traditional play structures, there are multiple climbing structures, a swing set, balance beams, sit and spin seats, a merry-go-round, and even a zipline!

There truly is something for everyone. Even with all of these structures, there is still plenty of room to run and play tag.

DZPIII is ADA-accessible, with paved walkways surrounding the playground and winding throughout the park. An area toward the back looks like it once held hammocks. You can enjoy a nice view of the entire park from this area.

Bring equipment such as bean bags, horseshoes or rings, frisbees, kites, balls, and more to use their large multi-use synthetic turf field, pickleball and bocce ball courts, cornhole boards, and horseshoe pits.

In addition to play areas, there is a beautiful memorial to honor Deputy Parrish, who was killed in the line of duty, and all public safety personnel who serve our community. This memorial is made of etched Siloam stones, steel bands imparting meaningful words, and a reflective garden.
