Help the Douglas County School District Restore Bus Routes

July 13, 2021

The COVID pandemic affected many aspects of our lives and community. Public schools were no exception. During the 2020-2021 school year public education funding was cut, and the Douglas County School District was forced to make difficult budget reductions — one of which was the number of bus routes offered to students.

DCSD is ready to restore its bus routes for the coming school year, and we need your help. The nationwide bus driver shortage continues to challenge school districts, but we know that together the Douglas County community can persevere!

Apply today to be a DCSD bus driver or bus assistant. There’s no experience necessary; DCSD will provide on-the-job training and help you obtain your Commercial Drivers License (if applicable)!

Bus Drivers
DCSD seeks drivers for full-size buses as well as 14-passenger or smaller vehicles. Our bus drivers transport students to and from schools, field trips, athletic events, etc. Bus drivers are often the first DCSD staff member students see each day and have the opportunity to build great rapport with students. Drivers are eligible to earn hiring and retention incentives.

Transportation Education Assistants (TEAs)
Our TEAs monitor and assist special education students with moderate to severe needs and challenging or emotional difficulties on school buses. TEAs assist with securing wheelchairs and other equipment.

DCSD is also hiring for a variety of other positions including educational assistants, kitchen workers, custodians, maintenance workers, groundskeepers, and more. Learn more and apply at www.dcsdk12.org/careers.
