Zigazoo Offers Kids Safe Social Media With a Positive Message

By Susan Troy, publisher of Thornton, Northglenn, East Westminster, Colo. March 21, 2022

My 10-year-old daughter is obsessed with making short-form videos — it’s all she wants to do and talk about!

But every time she brings it up, all I can think about is safety and figuring out how to navigate the parental controls. The prospect of doing the research seems overwhelming. I’m a busy mom. I don’t have time in my schedule to research all the different social media platforms!

Zigazoo provided me with compensation to facilitate this review. As always, my opinions are 100% my own.

So when I heard about Zigazoo, a safe social media platform for kids, I was thrilled! They took all the guesswork out of the process and made me feel comfortable with their platform right away.

Zigazoo’s mission is to give children a safe and positive community where they can find joy, develop healthy online relationships, and aspire to their greatest potential as tomorrow’s digital citizens.

Kids ages 3-13 can complete video challenges and upload them in a safe environment where there is no negativity or inappropriate content — and no messaging!

The #1 reason I know this app is safe in my daughter’s hands? Each video goes through a human moderation process. They check for video content, kid-friendliness, and the absence of personal info. If it doesn’t pass this check, it doesn’t go on the app!

Users also don’t have an option for messaging or leaving comments. Zigazoo offers fun stickers and shout-outs for kids to express themselves when responding to other videos.

As soon as we downloaded the Zigazoo app, my daughter dove in immediately. The first thing we needed to do was film her first video – and it had to include me too, which allowed her account to be verified. Then she took the reins and started scrolling through all the challenge videos. I think she filmed at least five videos on the first day!

Zigazoo's Content

I love that the user videos are based on themed prompts. Here are some of my favorites lately:

  • What is your favorite game to play?
  • What supernatural power would you want to have and why?
  • Can you dance like nobody's watching?
  • Can you tell me what your name means?
  • Who is your favorite author?

Here’s a challenge video my daughter filmed:

Zigazoo offers other fun content including challenges from children’s brands, content from celebrities, and a weekly Celebrity Reads feature to support literacy and inspire kids to read!

I asked my daughter what she loves about Zigazoo, here’s what she said:

"I love filming the videos, especially the dance challenges! It’s really fun to scroll through all the other kids' videos too, and the challenges are a fun way to come up with video ideas. I can’t wait to get more followers!"

Zigazoo satisfies her craving to connect with other kids her age through short-form videos, and I’m thrilled that it’s a safe and positive place for her too!
