This easy recipe is a kid favorite!

I LOVE peaches. I make the nearly five-hour drive to Palisade each year to buy their famous peaches. I enjoy canning them so I can create yummy recipes year-round.

Since August is National Peach Month, I wanted to share one of my go-to peach recipes so you can make the most of your local peaches. This homemade peach fruit leather doesn't require a food dehydrator and makes a sweet addition to the school lunchbox.

Homemade fruit leather is easy to make, and it's a great healthy snack for kids. I used peaches for this recipe, but you can also use your favorite fruit. Strawberries and raspberries are my other favorite fruits to use.

This recipe makes about ten fruit leather rolls and will keep up to a month in an air-tight container — though they probably won't last that long!

Homemade Peach Fruit Leather

  • 3 cups peaches
  • Sweetener to taste (I use honey or maple syrup)

Preheat the oven to 150˚ F (or the lowest temperature your range will go). Line an 11x17-inch baking sheet with a baking mat or parchment paper.

Puree the peaches and sweetener in a blender or food processor until smooth. Pour fruit mixture onto the prepared baking sheet and spread to about 1/8-inch thick. Tap the baking sheet on the counter a few times to evenly distribute the fruit mixture.

Place baking sheet in the oven and bake for 6-8 hours, or until the center is not tacky. If your oven doesn't go as low, watch the progress closely. Remove from oven and let cool to room temperature. Gently peel the fruit leather from the baking mat or parchment paper.

Use a pizza cutter, knife, or scissors to cut the leather into squares or strips. If you want to make fruit rolls, roll the strips in parchment paper! Store in an air-tight container.

Strawberries and raspberries also make delicious fruit leather!
