Sensory Summer Camps with STAR Institute — Imagine. Explore. Engage.

Sensory motor play, whole body movement, and interactive ways for children to stay connected.

March 27, 2023

STAR Institute is the leading international clinic for treating children, adolescents, and adults with differences in sensory processing and other conditions in which sensory challenges are common, such as autism, ADHD, neurodevelopmental differences, trauma, learning differences, and mental health conditions.

At STAR, we provide supportive, therapeutic group programs and camps that allow your child to build confidence, self-esteem, self-awareness, regulation, and social and communication skills. Our camps work on the concepts of perspective-taking, empathy-building, cooperation, and joy in others using playful lessons, sensory-based activities, and games.

School Readiness — Ages 3-6

Designed for kids who aren’t ready for a full-blown classroom environment, this program figures out what support your child needs to be their best in school and provides a predictable school-like schedule during the summer.

Our goal is to provide a supportive therapeutic environment that closely mimics the classroom setting to allow your child to build confidence, self-esteem, and self-awareness and maintain the regulation they need in a school setting.

  • June 5 – August 18 | No sessions the week of July 3
  • Monday-Friday from 9:00 AM–11:45 AM
  • $1350 for two weeks (10 sessions); 2 weeks minimum for participation

Superhero in Training — Ages 4-9

This immersive camp focuses on naturally building self-esteem and social confidence through play-based themes and “in the moment” lessons.

Relationships are built through shared interests, while social skills are strengthened through multi-sensory-based games and play designed to meet each child’s individual sensory needs.

The program is geared toward verbal children (speaking and/or using alternative communication systems) who have basic peer awareness and would benefit from therapeutic activities to build reciprocal interactions.

  • Group 1 for ages 7-9: June 12- June 23
  • Group 2 for ages 4-6: July 17 - July 28
  • Both groups are 3:00 PM–4:45 PM
  • $1060 for two weeks (10 sessions)

Critical Core — Ages 11-19

Critical Core is a social development program that utilizes a role-playing game (similar to Dungeons and Dragons) to motivate participants to actively engage in social situations and to develop meaningful connections with others.

It is a safe and supportive environment where players can practice communicating, problem-solving, and regulation as their characters progress through a series of challenges that ultimately lead to them becoming heroes.

  • Group 2 for ages 11-14: July 17-21 from 10:30 AM–12:30 PM
