From innovative programs to improving access to resources and services to promoting literacy and so much more, librarians everywhere work to transform their communities in creative and positive ways.

The I Love My Librarian Award recognizes librarians in public, school, and college/university libraries who have gone above and beyond for their communities.

Last year, library users across the country submitted nearly 1,400 nominations. Since the award’s inception in 2008, 160 librarians have received this honor.

American Library Association (ALA) member leaders will select the award-winning librarians from the nominations. Each selected librarian will receive $5,000 in recognition of their outstanding public service and will be honored on stage at the popular I Love My Librarian Award ceremony, also known as the “Oscars for the library world.”

While only ten librarians are selected each year for the award, all nominated librarians receive copies of their nominations and see how much their communities love them.
