Are you a sculptor, with a work in progress or a completed piece that needs to be seen? Consider submitting your artwork to the well-established Douglas County Art Encounters public art program in 2025.
All chosen sculptors receive a $1,200 stipend. Since the program’s inception, 24 pieces have been purchased or donated.
Application Submittal Deadline: Friday, February 21, 2025
Art Encounters Exhibit Timeframe: May 2025 - May 2026
Program Benefits:
- Artists have the opportunity to spread their name and work throughout Douglas County and beyond.
- Artists who submit more than one application have the opportunity for more than one piece to be selected. This could result in one piece in one jurisdiction and one piece in another for greater publicity.
- Selected artists receive an $1,200 stipend, payable after completion of the installation process.
- Artists have the chance for their artwork to be purchased. Twenty-two sculptures have been purchased since the program was initiated in 2007.

About Art Encounters
Founded in 2007, Art Encounters is a year-long, outdoor sculpture exhibit showcasing sculptures, in various media and styles, displayed in highly visible areas in Castle Rock, Highlands Ranch, Lone Tree, Parker, and Roxborough. Selected sculptures are viewed by thousands of visitors annually.
Art Encounters was created by citizen advocates for the arts to promote public interest in art, develop community pride and draw visitors to the retail and civic areas where pieces are displayed. Local and national artists are invited to submit work to this program, which is an essential part of our vibrant community.
