Sending your child to overnight camp for the first time is a big milestone — one filled with excitement, new friendships, and unforgettable experiences. At JCC Ranch Camp, we make that transition seamless with a supportive community and exciting activities tailored for first-time campers.
Nestled on 400 acres in Colorado's magnificent Black Forest, just 50 miles southeast of Denver, Ranch Camp blends traditional camp fun with unique outdoor adventures that create lifelong memories.
Mini Camp – The Perfect Introduction to Overnight Camp
For younger campers new to overnight camp, Mini Camp is a one-week program designed to ease them into the experience. Campers try each activity once (including horseback riding!), offering a taste of the full Ranch Camp experience without the commitment of a longer stay. It’s a great way for kids to build confidence, make friends, and discover the magic of camp!
We understand that first-time campers (and parents!) may feel nervous, which is why we prioritize camper wellness with:
β Structured routines that create a sense of security and belonging
β Trained counselors and a Camper Care Coordinator team for extra support
β Pre-camp communication tools, including:
- The First-Time Camper Guide
- The “Ranch Camp 101” Email Series
- One-on-one meeting (phone or video call) with a staff member to answer all your questions
