On the fence about if your child (or you!) are ready for summer camp? The decision to send your child to camp is a big one, with many considerations. While safety and fun are always our top priorities, there are many other benefits to be gained from a summer camp experience!
Stone Canyon Summer Camp is located in Larkspur (just 20 minutes south of Castle Rock!) and offers week-long overnight and three-day day camp sessions. We’d love to have your camper join us this summer. Find more information about our camps including session dates, activities, and registration by clicking REGISTER TODAY! |
Summer camp at Stone Canyon is an opportunity to unplug from technology!
As studies and reports show the impact technology is having on younger generations, here at camp we revert back to a simpler time when connections are formed roasting s’mores over a campfire, feeling awe looking at the stars, or partnering up in a game of pickleball.
Time in nature is good for the soul, and science backs this up!
Studies suggest that time in nature has a positive impact on mental health and cognitive function. On our beautiful 99-acre property in the Rampart Range, campers get to spend their days exploring the creek, watching beautiful sunsets, and maybe even crossing paths with a turkey!
At Stone Canyon, campers are empowered to create the camp experience they want!
We run a choice-based program, allowing campers to choose daily activities, sit where they want at meals, and make purchases at the camp store.
Providing a space for campers to stretch out of their comfort zone and into their growth zone is one of our main objectives. Stone Canyon offers a space where trying something new is encouraged, success is celebrated, and where there is a system ready to support them if things don’t go as initially hoped for or planned.
Summer camp is all about social connection!
The opportunity to connect with new people, navigate misunderstandings, and build trust is all happening in real-time over the course of a camp session, allowing campers to develop and deepen skills that will serve them throughout their lives.
Whether campers are coming to camp with family or friends or coming on their own for the first time, they will walk away with new friends from the week. Our counselors are trained to make connections with campers themselves, but also to facilitate those connections between campers to help build safe and fun communities at camp.
Meet the Director
Hi! I’m Amy Paulsen, the Summer Camp Director at Stone Canyon - this will be my 9th summer at camp. I graduated with a degree in Conservation Biology and eventually made my way into the environmental education and camp industry. I thought Stone Canyon would be a brief stop for me when I first came in 2018, and here I am 9 years later! I love the Stone Canyon community - our staff and families care deeply and are invested in the opportunity for transformational experiences.
