On behalf of Prince Prospero, the ghost of author, poet, and literary critic, Edgar Allan Poe, who haunts the halls of the Cherokee Ranch and Castle, invites you to attend a festive October revel. Wear your most extravagant masque to protect you from the evil spirits that roam the countryside.
Celebrated Chautauqua scholar and actor David Skipper, will deliver a dramatic monologue as Poe on the theme of death and beauty, followed by a reading of his short story, The Mask of the Red Death.
Tweet Kimball's great-great-grandfather took in Edgar Allan Poe as an infant and raised him until adulthood. Tweet's extraordinary book collection includes much of Poe's work. You may even catch a glimpse of Poe at his writing desk on your tour of the nearly 100-year-old castle!
