Description
This walk is designed to introduce guests to the amazing land surrounding the Castle, with incredible views from the top of Cherokee Mountain. Participants will explore the basic geology and local weather and learn about the archaeological history as well as the early settlers who came to Douglas County in the 1800s.
Moderate Hike: This hike is approximately two miles and includes some steep off-trail hiking. The hike is suitable for most people in good physical condition.
All hikes require shoes that protect your feet; sandals or shoes that do not cover your feet are not permitted. We recommend a minimum of one liter of water and snacks for every two hours of hiking. Most hikes are in open meadows and exposed slopes; participants should wear sunscreen and consider a hat.
