Description

Learn about the bison’s important history and uses while walking the high plains. What changes occurred when bison were heavily depleted, then replaced by cattle brought by Europeans? These majestic creatures held a pivotal role in Native American life and are gaining renewed importance in recent years.

This hike is led by a South Suburban naturalist. The event is held outdoors and may be canceled due to inclement weather.

Schweiger Ranch and South Suburban Parks & Recreation District have teamed up to provide free guided walking tours led by professional naturalists. These tours offer insight and education into the natural environment on and around Schweiger Ranch while offering a chance to get some fresh air and exercise.
