Description
Follow in the footsteps of native and early Americans to look for deer in the moonlight. Learn why this moon seems so big and colorful. Hike up to a breathtaking overlook to experience the rising moon (6:40 PM).
You’ll be descending in the twilight after sunset at 6:29 PM, by the light of the moon, using your human night vision (and flashlights if you choose). Parts of the trail are steep, so wear appropriate footwear and bring walking sticks as needed.
RidgeGate teams up with the South Suburban Parks and Recreation District each summer to provide free guided nature hikes throughout RidgeGate’s expansive bluffs trail system.
These hikes are led by professional naturalists and offer insight and education into the natural ecosystems within the open space at RidgeGate while offering a chance to get some fresh air and exercise.
