Description
This walk will introduce guests to the amazing land surrounding the castle. Enjoy the incredible views from the top of Cherokee Mountain as we explore the basic geology and local weather and visit one of the archaeological sites. Participants will learn about the archaeological history as well as the early settlers who came to Douglas County in the 1800s.
Rating: Moderate — 2 miles off trail, including some steep off-trail hiking. This hike is suitable for most people in good physical condition.
Recommendations: Wear long pants and good hiking shoes or boots (sandals or shoes that do not cover your feet are not permitted). Consume a minimum of 1 liter of water for every two hours of hiking and a snack for any hike over two hours. Most hikes are in open meadows and exposed slopes; all participants should wear sunscreen and consider a hat.
