Being a parent is rewarding and fulfilling, but having a little time for yourself is important too! Regular date nights can strengthen relationships, increase communication, and allow you to de-stress. And ultimately, happy parents make happy kids!

If dinner and a movie are your "go-to" for an adults-only event, we've found a few new ways for you to connect with your mate or your besties.

June 2: Guided Nature Hike: Sunset Birdwatching

Look for birds when they are most active, as the sun sets. Free guided nature hike led by professional naturalists throughout RidgeGate’s expansive bluffs trail system.

June 4: Painting Positivity Mural Celebration and Dedication

The Town of Castle Rock's newest mural installation. Meet the artists and enjoy light refreshments before heading to the First Friday free concert at Festival Park. 

June 4: First Fridays Featuring Got Groove
Festival Park • FREE! • 5:00 PM
Themed 5K followed by live music by Got Groove, food trucks, cocktails, and kid activities. Got Groove is a variety dance band based out of New Orleans. Covering everything from Coldplay to Biggie, James Brown, and Beyonce, you will not want to miss this high-energy show!

June 4: Sacred Heart Paint & Sip

June 5: Petrified Wood Hike

Hidden in the backcountry lies Colorado’s largest Petrified Forest. See these ancient trees up close, examine the fossilized wood, and learn about the fascinating process of petrification and theories about the ancient river that deposited these trees here.

June 5 & 6: Smash Fine Arts Festival

This event features fine artists (painting, photography, mixed-media, wood, metal, jewelry) plus live violin and piano music.

June 5: Backcountry Outdoor Movie Series: Mean Girls
Backcountry Wilderness Area Base Camp • $25 per car • 8:15 PM
The Backcountry Outdoor Movie Series brings cinema favorites onto the giant screen in the Backcountry Base Camp's open-air theater. Grab dinner from the food truck and bring your favorite movie snacks!

June 9: Adult Swim Party

Imagine an easy-breezy evening mingling among an adult crowd... in your bathing suit! Bring your float, a picnic dinner or snacks, and your ID for a relaxing and fun night at the pool!

Bring your Thursday happy hour to the Backcountry for a hike, then head to Living the Dream afterward for Beer for Bucks to support the Backcountry Wilderness Area. 

June 11: Let's Wine

The most famous paint and sip experience in Parker, Colorado! Paint a bottle of red wine!

June 12: Backcountry Hike
Cherokee Ranch & Castle • $35 • 8:00 AM
Visit the largest petrified woods in the state of Colorado, climb to the highest point on this pristine land, and loop through some of the more remote and fascinating parts of the Ranch not available to public visitors. 

June 12: Geology Hike

This hike goes over Raccoon Knob and Cherokee Mountain and focuses on interpreting the beautiful landscape. Learn how to interpret the sedimentary layers and decode the past full of massive floods, deadly volcanic eruptions, and the flood plain of an ancient river containing trees.

June 19: Summer Concert Series: 38 Special

After more than four decades, 38 SPECIAL continues to bring their signature blast of Southern Rock to over 100 cities a year. At every show, thousands of audience members are amazed by the explosive power of the band's performance.
