June 2: Guided Nature Hike: Sunset Birdwatching

June 4: Painting Positivity Mural Celebration and Dedication

The Town of Castle Rock's newest mural installation. Meet the artists and enjoy light refreshments before heading to the First Friday free concert at Festival Park. 

June 4: First Fridays Featuring Got Groove
Festival Park • FREE! • 5:00 PM
Themed 5K followed by live music by Got Groove, food trucks, cocktails, and kid activities. Got Groove is a variety dance band based out of New Orleans. Covering everything from Coldplay to Biggie, James Brown, and Beyonce, you will not want to miss this high-energy show!

Hidden in the backcountry lies Colorado’s largest Petrified Forest. See these ancient trees up close, examine the fossilized wood, and learn about the fascinating process of petrification and theories about the ancient river that deposited these trees here.

June 5 & 6: Smash Fine Arts Festival

This event features fine artists (painting, photography, mixed-media, wood, metal, jewelry) plus live violin and piano music.

June 5: Backcountry Outdoor Movie Series: Mean Girls

The Backcountry Outdoor Movie Series brings cinema favorites onto the giant screen in the Backcountry Base Camp's open-air theater. Grab dinner from the food truck and bring your favorite movie snacks!

June 12: Backcountry Hike

This hike goes over Raccoon Knob and Cherokee Mountain and focuses on interpreting the beautiful landscape. Learn how to interpret the sedimentary layers and decode the past full of massive floods, deadly volcanic eruptions, and the flood plain of an ancient river containing trees.
